The Isbell Family

Willard Altheus Isbell was born in Kendallville, Indiana in 1861. He moved to South Bend in 1916, and worked as a pattern maker for South Bend Lathe Works. He died November 7, 1944 in Elkhart, Indiana, and is buried at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka, Indiana.

Nellie Maybee was born on July 3, 1867 (obituary) or 1870 (funeral home report), in either Goshen, Indiana (obituary) or Manistee, Michigan. On an uknown date, she married Willard Isbell. She moved to South Bend in 1926 from Kendallville, Indiana. She died on August 18, 1947 in South Bend, where she lived with her daughter, Mrs. Robert Vermande (Leona May). She is buried at Fairview Cemetery. Her father, George Maybee, was born in Indiana in 1843, and died in 1921. Her mother, Calista Wilkinson, was born in 1841 and died in 1906.

George L. Isbell was born in 1895, in Elkhart, Indiana. He took out a marriage license in St. Joseph County (South Bend), Indiana with Esther Keiser on June 12, 1920.

Leona May was born April 22, 1897.

Donald K. Isbell was born February 14, 1902 in Indiana. He was a designer for GMC Truck and Coach Division. He died September 17, 1980 in Pontiac, Michigan. He is buried at Ottawa Park Cemetery, Independence Township, Michigan. His wife Mary Ellen died before him.
